Louis A. Nivert, a long-standing Democrat, has announced his intention to run for Mayor of Clarks Green.
In his announcement, Mr. Nivert stated, “I believe the residents of Clarks Green should be able to choose between a true Democrat and a candidate previously elected as a Republican who changed registration for this election.
Before his retirement, Mr. Nivert served as president of Nivert Metal Supply, a national metal supplier based in Lackawanna County catering to the construction industry. He highlighted his business experience as an asset for the borough. “I believe fiscal responsibility is essential for a stronger Clarks Green,” he added.
Mr. Nivert is a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Keystone College, and he is a US Army veteran.
He and his wife, Barbara, have always been strong community advocates for organizations such as been involved with Jewish Family Service (not sure if this needs an s after Service), Temple Israel of Scranton, B’nai Brith, Jewish War Veterans, Elan Gardens, The Jewish Home of NEPA, the Scranton Red Cross, the Scranton JCC, the Howard Gardner School, and the Jewish Federation.
The primary election will be held on May 20th.
The CGDs are proud to announce their support for long time Democrat and Community Activist, Lou Nivert. Lou is a veteran running for the right reasons: to represent our community at local events and help residents’ coordinate with Borough services. In other words, hands on again like Patty Lawler and Mayor Bill Thorburn. We are honored to have Lou lead the primary ticket
Democrats: “Be true. Vote for Lou.”
